Then he won presidency in\u00a02002 election, having power until 2006. After ten years, he was elected again in\u00a02016 election.\u00a0In March 2019, he was re-elected in the\u00a0elections\u00a0opposition claimed to be full of irregularities.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-06f2d2d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"06f2d2d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Austronesian\u00a0sailors from\u00a0Southeast Asia, who had earlier settled nearby\u00a0Madagascar. They are the source for the earliest archeological evidence of farming in the islands. Crops from archeological sites in\u00a0Sima\u00a0are predominantly rice strains of both\u00a0indica\u00a0and\u00a0japonica\u00a0varieties from Southeast Asia, as well as various other Asian crops like\u00a0mung bean\u00a0and\u00a0cotton. Only a minority of the examined crops were African-derived, like\u00a0finger millet, African\u00a0sorghum, and\u00a0cowpea. The Comoros are believed to be the first site of contact and subsequent admixture between African and Asian populations (earlier than Madagascar). Comorians today still display at most 20% Austronesian admixture<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9b3502e elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"9b3502e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">From around the 15th century AD,\u00a0Shirazi\u00a0slave traders established trading ports and brought in slaves from the mainland.
